In the heart of the University of Findlay campus, a large new UF sign greets the community reflecting proud Orange and Black spirit and alumni generosity.
Located at the intersection of Davis and Cory streets, the sign is a gift from Jeffrey Seever, a 1976 graduate, and his wife Ruth.
The Seevers recently visited campus for UF’s Homecoming celebration and enjoyed the opportunity to see their gift in action.
“Ruth and I couldn’t think of a better location,” Mr. Seever said. “I’m really happy with the sign and several people took their pictures while we were there, including the cheerleaders – we loved that.”
The sign is located adjacent to the UF Spirit Rock, at the northern end of what is referred to as “the Cory Street mall,” where the street formerly ran through campus before it was closed and replaced with a gazebo and green space in the early 1990s.
Mr. Seever earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting from then Findlay College, and played baseball for the Oilers. The couple also has generously endowed two scholarships – the Jeff and Ruth Seever Scholarship and the Jeffrey R. Seever ’76 Scholarship – helping the next generation of UF students.
“This is a welcoming new campus landmark, and we are grateful to Jeff and Ruth Seever for their generous support of Oiler students and fostering Oiler spirit,” said Kenneth McIntyre Jr., vice president of University advancement. “This visible expression of alumni pride will daily greet students, faculty, visitors, and generations to come.”
