Annual Pops Concert at The University of Findlay Features Music, Dance
The University of Findlay Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will present the fourth annual Pops Concert at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, in the Winebrenner Theological Seminary TLB Auditorium.
The theme for this year’s concert is “Dancing with the Stars.” Students from Toledo School for the Arts will join the groups for several selections.
Under the direction of Jack Taylor, professor of music, the bands will perform a variety of dance-inspired pieces including Ravel’s “Bolero” and “Clear Track Polka” by Strauss and others. Choreography is by Alison Reny, instructor of choreography at the Toledo School for the Arts.
At intermission, senior band members will honor selected UF faculty and staff members who have been influential their lives during their years at the University. Pops concert-style seating will be available with tables and chairs as well as traditional concert seating. Light refreshments will be available during the performance.
Tickets for the concert may be reserved by calling the UF Box Office at 419-434-5335 or may be purchased at the door. General admission is $5, $3 for students and senior citizens, and free for UF students, faculty and staff with I.D.
The mission of The University of Findlay music program is to promote the art of music in all its forms. UF students and the community at large are provided with opportunities for enhancing their musical appreciation through performance, listening activities and non-traditional venues.
