Breaking Down Barriers Through a Virtual Performance
Former international exchange student, Dari Stránská, recently sang the song “Rise Up” by Andra Day in a virtual performance as part of University of Findlay’s Martin Luther King, Jr., Celebration.
Dari came to Findlay from the University of Hradec Králové, a partner institution in the Czech Republic, to study English and music in the fall of 2019. She had planned on returning to Findlay, though her plans were put on hold due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
When asked what she took away from her time at Findlay, Dari said, “I met many great people, who I am still in touch with. I became more independent and improved my English skills. I also learned how to respect other nationalities’ culture and behavior and met great people in the Church choir, who influenced me by their generosity.”
Findlay is proud to have a strong connection with Universities across the globe and continues to find ways to network with international partners and students. While the exchange program has been suspended since the rise of the pandemic, the University hopes to resume the program in fall 2021 or spring 2022.
