‘Building Upon Traditions’ for UF Homecoming and Family Weekend
The University of Findlay’s Homecoming and Family Weekend, to be celebrated this Friday through Sunday, Oct. 20-22, will be full of exciting events for people and children of all ages!
Kicking off the weekend will be the football game at Donnell Stadium where the Oilers will take on Kentucky Wesleyan College at 7 p.m. During the game the 2017 Homecoming Court will be announced and the 2017 Distinguished Alumni and award recipients will be honored. The Marching Oiler Brass alumni will be performing with the band during pre-game and halftime. General Admission is $5; while those age 5 and younger, and age 65 and older are free. Tickets will be available at the gate the day of the football game.
On Saturday, Oct. 21 homecoming festivities will start bright and early with the 8 a.m. 5K Run/Walk. Join alumni, students, faculty, staff and community members as they walk, run, skip or jog for a good cause. Proceeds will support the American Heart Association and the UF Academy of Student Pharmacists. Fees to participate include $20 for the general public, and $10 for UF students with a valid ID. Registration will begin at 7:15 a.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union, and a T-shirt will be provided.
After running in the 5K, refuel at the Alumni Association Annual Breakfast in Winebrenner Theological Seminary at 9 am. You can enjoy a nice meal with alumni from all over while congratulating all the 2017 Distinguished Alumni Award winners. The cost is $10 per person, $5 for ages 6-12, and free for children age 5. Registration is required.
Also on Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. -1 p.m., open houses for the University’s six different colleges will be held. Stop by and visit with the dean and current faculty members to hear about the progress being made in the colleges, and take a tour of the Mazza Museum.
The annual festivities will wrap up Sunday, Oct. 22 with a Homecoming and Family Weekend worship service in Winebrenner Theological Seminary at 10 a.m. Students, alumni, parents, donors, friends and the community are invited to worship and celebrate their faith, heritage and God’s hand in blessing the institution.
