College of Health Professions to host 6th Annual Pediatric Healthcare Series
University of Findlay’s College of Health Professions will host the 6th annual Pediatric Healthcare Series on Friday, Sept. 27 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Winebrenner Building’s TLB Auditorium. Cincinnati Shriners Hospital pediatric burn team members will give a presentation on “The Role of the Interdisciplinary Team in Successful Burn Management.” The educational event is co-sponsored by Shriners Hospitals for Children, Jerl Machine Inc., and Dowling Steel.
This annual interprofessional education (IPE) offering presents different topics in pediatric healthcare led by experts in those respected fields. This year’s speakers include: Amanda Fields, MSN, RN, manager of education and development; Lori Boerger, MSW, LSW, ACM-SW, family services and care management team member; Michelle Dwertman, PT, certified burn therapist.
The speakers will present on the multidisciplinary management of pediatric burns from 9-11 a.m. Following the presentation, an interprofessional discussion will occur in a roundtable format with various disciplines represented at each table. Certificates of attendance will be presented upon completion of the entire event at noon.
This is a great way for attendees to engage professionally with other team members, meet new students in related fields, and enhance their understanding of other disciplines.
