Comics Unleashed at the March 15 Mazza Museum’s Funday Sunday
Area families are invited to unleash their inner superhero at “Comics Unleashed,” the March 15 “Funday Sunday” program of the University of Findlay’s Mazza Museum.
Free and open to the public, the event will transform the museum into an action-packed celebration of comics, creativity, and imagination. From 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., children and families can explore hands-on art stations, interactive STEAM challenges, and comic-inspired activities designed to spark storytelling and artistic expression.
Kristine Habelmann, education manager at the Mazza Museum, said guests can create superhero masks and original comic art, design their own characters in 3D, visit the planetarium, and explore hands-on STEAM challenges inspired by superhero science, including a fun candy DNA activity.
“Families also can test their strength and agility, experiment with creative materials, and decode hidden messages placed throughout the museum for an interactive, comic-inspired adventure,” she added.
A raffle for a book giveaway, sponsored by the Mazza gift shop, will give families the chance to take home a signed copy of What’s Up, Superman and Friends? by Matthew Reinhart.
“Comics have an incredible way of bringing stories to life through both words and images,” Habelmann said. “Whether a child is creating their own superhero, cracking secret codes, or discovering the science behind superpowers, there’s something for everyone.”
Registration for Funday Sunday is required and can be completed at oilers.findlay.edu/pages/events/mazza-funday-sunday.
The Funday Sundays 2025-26 series, sponsored by Hancock Federal Credit Union, will conclude the year on April 19 with a theme of “Weather Wonders.”
