Connections Between Science & Religion to be Discussed at Freed Lecture Series
Dr. Deborah Haarsma will present “Following Christ in a Scientific World: Bringing together the Bible and science on origins” in the University of Findlay’s upcoming DeBow and Catherine Freed Contemporary Christian Lecture Series.
The event will be held on Friday, Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in the Winebrenner building’s TLB auditorium. The Freed Lecture Series is free and open to the public. A book signing with Dr. Haarsma will be held after the lecture.
The event will cover the idea that in recent years, the divide between science and faith has become increasingly more evident, as “Christians have rejected science and science has triumphed over religion.” The topic of discussion will be centered around the connection between science and religion despite the deepening polarization between the two concepts.
Dr. Haarsma is President of BioLogos. She is a frequent speaker on modern science and Christian faith at research universities, churches, and public venues like the National Press Club. Her work appears in several recent books, including Four Views on Creation, Evolution, and Design and Christ and the Created Order. She wrote the book Origins with her husband and fellow physicist, Loren Haarsma, presenting the agreements and disagreements among Christians regarding the history of life and the universe.
