The University of Findlay orchestra will set the festive tone for the holiday season with several beloved musical arrangements, along with selections from the memorable 1961 musical, “West Side Story.” The concert will be held Sunday, Dec. 2 at 3 p.m. at Winebrenner Theological Seminary’s TLB auditorium.
Tickets are free but will be required by visiting www.mcpa.org.
This event, which will be directed by Dr. Soojin Lee, will also include the Hancock County Children’s Choir, which will perform “Away in a Manger” and “The Glory of Christmas.”
Along with the children’s choir appearance, the first half of the concert will include “The Bells of Christmas” arranged by Larry Moore, “I Wonder as I Wander” by John Jacob Niles, “Nessun Dorma” from “Turandot” by Giacomo Puccini, and “Pizzicato Polka for Strings Orchestra” by Johan Strauss Jr. and Josef Strauss.
Following an intermission, the UF Orchestra play two movements from Gustav Holst’s “St Paul’s Suite for String Orchestra,” including “I. Jig” and “IV. Finale (The Dargason).” Wrapping up the concert will be West Side Story selections by Leonard Bernstein.
The University of Findlay Orchestra was formed in 2009. It is a string ensemble composed of more than 50 students, staff and community players. The orchestra performs twice each year.
