Femininity Featured in Exhibition
University of Findlay alumnus Paul Calendrillo ’71, who owns and operates Paul Calendrillo New York studio in New York City, is presenting an exhibition at Marathon Center for the Performing Arts featuring artist Courtney Murphy. The show will be open through June 14.
Titled “Rendezvous Encore,” this exhibition is Murphy’s third solo show in the Center’s Fisher/Wall Gallery. The works, featuring individuals preparing for an evening out, explore “a sense of drama, mystery and anticipation,” she explains. Depicted in those quiet moments, her subjects evoke strength, vulnerability, femininity, and elegance.
Murphy is an art professor at Long Beach City College, Moorpark College, and California State University Long Beach. She earned a Bachelor of Art in studio art from the University of California Davis, and a Master of Fine Arts in painting from the New York Academy of Art’s Graduate School of Figurative Art. She has also studied in France, and at revered institutions such as the California Art Institute.
The Marathon Center for the Performing Arts gallery is open Monday through Friday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission to exhibits is free. The center is located at 200 W. Main Cross St.
