University of Findlay Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program student, Keshon Thomas, was recently named a recipient of the 2026 CREST Scholarship from the Rizing Tide Foundation.
For this distinction, Keshon will receive $14,000 (renewable each year) toward his DPT education, with the opportunity for renewal for up to two additional years. This scholarship recognizes students for their academic performance, leadership, character, conduct, and potential to make a future impact in the profession.
“Doctor of Physical Therapy students are often high-achieving students who are service-minded individuals choosing a career path where they focus their workday on helping others have better lives,” said Angie Huber, associate professor, program director, and chair of physical therapy. “I congratulate Keshon Thomas on this exceptional accomplishment and award.”
Huber further explained, “The University of Findlay, the American Physical Therapy Association, employers, and organizations such as the Rizing Tide Foundation work to provide DPT students with financial assistance to reach their goal of becoming licensed physical therapists.”
The Rizing Tide is a foundation dedicated to expanding access to physical therapy by creating a more inclusive workforce through scholarships and professional development. Twenty winners from 19 accredited programs across the U.S. and Puerto Rico were selected from a pool of more than 500 applicants and are part of the foundation’s pledge to award up to $570,000 in scholarships to DPT students from underrepresented racial and ethnic backgrounds.
“I encourage DPT students to seek out financial opportunities and clinicians to give to the physical therapy future professionals,” Huber said.
The 2026 Rizing Tide Crest scholars were selected for their academic achievement, leadership potential, commitment to service, and passion for advancing the physical therapy profession.
In addition to financial support, scholars receive mentorship and leadership development programming, including all-inclusive access to the North Star Summit, the foundation’s annual conference in Phoenix, Arizona.
