Findlay Town & Campus Organization Awards Four Scholarships
Four University of Findlay students are the 2025-26 recipients of scholarships from Town & Campus, one of the oldest organizations at UF, promoting student success and goodwill among campus and community members.
“We are so pleased to assist these students who have achieved so much in their courses, their volunteerism, and their extracurricular participation,” said Findlay resident Nondace Campbell, president of Town & Campus.
“From honorary societies to hospital clinicals, and Campus Ministries to intramural sports, they have a lot to juggle in addition to the demands of their class work and labs. It is our honor to support them on their educational journeys,” noted Campbell, a UF emerita professor who taught English and literature, retiring in 2009.
This year’s scholarship recipients are: Abigail Hatch of Findlay, doctor of pharmacy major; Frankie Jones of Findlay, finance and accounting major; Ethan Thomas of Elida, sports business strategy major; and Andrew Bauman of Attica, doctor of pharmacy major.
Town & Campus started in 1960, when O.J. Wilson, president of then-Findlay College, organized a women’s auxiliary to serve as a liaison between the college and community.
The group hosted teas and offered bridge lessons for female students. Within a year, the women began raising money to support Findlay students with scholarships and emergency loans.
Today, 65 years later, Findlay Town & Campus enjoys a long history of supporting a variety of UF programs and scholarships. The organization is no longer just for women, but open to all. In 2009, they endowed a scholarship in honor of the organization’s 50th anniversary.
In addition to Campbell, officers for the organization this year are: Nancy Bickford of Findlay, first vice president; Cindy Fitzpatrick of Findlay, second vice president; Bette Bertke of McComb, secretary; Monika Zimmerman of Findlay, treasurer; Gillian Holzhauser-Graber of Findlay and Cam Taylor of Findlay, co-parliamentarians.
The group meets monthly on campus, and new members are welcome. Upcoming meetings include:
- Monday, February 9, with a presentation on “Findlay for the Next 100 Years” by Sarah Fedirka, Ph.D., director of the Watterson Center, and Diana Montague, professor of media and communications.
- Monday, March 9, with a presentation on the Buford Center, by Maria Guarnieri, assistant director of leadership development.
