For Professor Albert It's All About the Numbers!
She’s been teaching college math for 33 years and loves to encourage and inspire students. Professor Anne Albert has witnessed students’ conversions from “terrified of numbers” to succeeding in class and overcoming math anxiety as well
She’s stimulated those who have needed constant challenge and even encouraged some to pursue mathematics as a major. As a fitting tribute to her dedication to teaching and innovation in the classroom, Anne Albert has been named the College of Sciences Faculty Chair for 2012-2013.
The title of Faculty Chair is an honor given to a senior member of the faculty who has served UF for a minimum of 10 years. The recipient must have submitted a resume of accomplishments in teaching, scholarship and service and sketched a plan or theme for engaging faculty, staff, students and the community at large in a particular field of expertise.
Appropriately, Professor Albert’s theme for the current academic year is “Student Success.” She has researched the topic of student prerequisite knowledge and success in mathematics courses for several years, and is continuing that research. Within her planned program is a convocation series that promises to engage students, faculty, staff and the community.
