Galen to Jazz Up UF’s Alumni Memorial Union

Talented musician Galen will perform at the University of Findlay’s Music Bach’s Concert Series on Feb. 1, 2019.
At age 9, Galen was given his first flute. Since then, he has crafted his own big and rich sound, and combined it with his spoken word talents, to captivate audiences.
This dynamic musician, poet, speaker and jazz historian will perform at the University of Findlay on Feb. 1, 2019, from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union as part of the Music Bach’s Concert Series, which is free and open to the public. Parking will also be free.
Galen studied at the Berklee College of Music and holds a master’s degree in fine arts and education from Rutgers University. He has performed both internationally and domestically for more than 30 years. His performance portfolio includes greats such as Billy Taylor, Sonny Phillips, Gwen Guthrie, Jimmy Heath, Melba Moore, and Sun Ra.
In addition to his stellar musical background, Galen is a riveting speaker on the topic of jazz and its historical significance. Because of his love of teaching, he always finds a way to incorporate instruction and direction for students who someday would like to develop a career in music.
