Goods Collected for Community Through ‘Move Out, Pitch In’ Initiative
University of Findlay students recently participated in a sustainability effort, “Move Out, Pitch In,” and collected items to be donated to those in need.
Students moving off campus at the end of the spring semester were encouraged to donate new and gently used items such as nonperishable food, housewares, and clothing, rather than tossing them in the trash.
Collection bins were conveniently located in all residence hall common areas during the final week of the semester. Salvation Army bins for clothing and household goods were also placed in multiple locations on campus. Many items are being donated to City Mission, the Salvation Army, and CHOPIN Hall.
Along with donations, students were also encouraged to utilize the recycling sheds on campus for cardboard, plastics, metal, and paper to discard unused packing materials and more.
This year, Findlay Green Campus Initiative and Campus Ministries combined forces to sponsor “Move Out, Pitch In” this year.
Amy DePuy, assistant director of marketing and communication and co-chair of Findlay Green Campus Initiative, said, “we’re proud to partner with Campus Ministries to provide an opportunity for students to give back to our local community while also promoting responsible sustainable practices on our campus.”
