Helping Hands Hopes to Reach Six-Figure Collection Goal
One hundred thousand pounds. That’s the impressive nonperishable food collection goal for Sodexo’s 13th annual University of Findlay Helping Hands Food Drive to be held for 12 hours on Wednesday, Nov. 7. If met, the goal will represent another record.
Last year’s collection total was 97,465 pounds, which stretched more than 20,000 pounds beyond the 2017 goal, and was the highest ever for UF and for all colleges and universities in the country that participated in Sodexo’s nationwide effort.
This year, collection sites will operate on campus, where drive-up and drop-off sites will be set up at the Alumni Memorial Union and Henderson Dining Hall, both on Frazer Street, from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. off-campus collections will be made at both Walmarts on Tiffin and Trenton avenues.
The food will be donated to CHOPIN Hall, a Findlay nonprofit that serves people within the region. In 2016, the organization gave out food, clothing, household and personal-care item assistance 49,349 times. The food will be transported by Garner Trucking, Inc.
