International Night to Celebrate Culture at University of Findlay
International Night is set to take place on Thursday, March 26 at the Alumni Memorial Union, continuing a long-standing tradition of cultural celebration at the University of Findlay. Doors open at 6 p.m., with performances beginning at 6:30 p.m.
The event will celebrate and showcase our community’s diverse backgrounds through food, performances, and exhibits, offering attendees the chance to experience cuisines from Japan, Vietnam, Ghana, and more. The evening will also feature a variety of performances, including poetry readings, musical acts, and dance.
“For over 50 years, UF has celebrated the backgrounds of Oilers from all over the world,” shared Alex Parker, assistant director for campus and community engagement. “We pull from various departments to create a committee to bring this event together. It is a lot of work to coordinate, and we couldn’t do it without support from all over campus.”
International Night began in 1968, founded by Professor Raeburn Wallen after years of hosting international students in his home. Wanting to share the joy he had for global cultures, Wallace expanded the gathering to the greater Findlay/Hancock County community in addition to the University.
“It has grown and ebbed over the years, but it has been a staple for programming at University of Findlay,” Parker added.
