Mosser Named Vice President for University Advancement
The University of Findlay is pleased to announce the appointment of John W. Mosser as its new vice president for University Advancement. In this role, Mosser will lead UF’s advancement division, which comprises alumni, parent and friend relations, public relations, Web and technology services and fundraising.
“Dr. Mosser brings a wealth of experience in designing creative alumni and parent engagement initiatives, innovative career networking programs and growing overall fund raising support,” said President Katherine Fell.
Mosser comes to UF after leading the university advancement program at Bentley University in Waltham, Mass. At Bentley, Mosser is credited with growing the national reputation of Bentley’s career services program through its Bentley Business Networks and alumni career services initiatives. Under Mosser’s leadership, a parents’ association and parents’ association board of directors were developed, a distinguished alumni academy was launched, the university’s alumni reunion program was revitalized and both overall financial support and alumni participation in giving were increased.
Mosser also has served as director of major gifts at Cornell University and vice president for institutional advancement and head of the college foundation at SUNY Cortland, and has held a series of increasingly responsible positions in university relations at Bucknell University in Lewisburg, Pa.
Dr. C. Richard Beckett, chair of the UF Board of Trustees, who headed the national search for the new VP, added, “We are delighted that our national search has brought us an individual we believe can guide our advancement program to the next level, as well as see our $40 million Give Voice to Your Values comprehensive campaign to a successful conclusion.”
Mosser, who grew up in Evanston, Ill., holds a doctor of philosophy in higher education administration from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, a master of public administration from Northern Illinois University in Dekalb, Ill., and a bachelor of science in business administration and marketing from Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville. Mosser joins The University of Findlay following the retirement of David Ferguson.
