Plans for Campus Safety Continue with Enhanced Sanitization
As the University of Findlay prepares for a safe and healthy start to the fall semester, the Physical Plant team is doing their part to ensure classrooms and high traffic areas are clean and disinfected.
The University’s Physical Plant has been hard at work installing strategically placed hand sanitizer stations throughout campus including wall mounted stations and large pump-bottles. Single-use disinfectant wipe dispensers have also been put in classrooms, office spaces, and other common areas. These hand sanitizer and disinfectant wipe dispensers will allow individuals to disinfect their hands and workspace regularly to limit the spread of any germs or viral pathogens.
Along with the addition of sanitizing stations, the University has also increased the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting, focusing on high-touch surfaces, such as residence hall communal rooms, public restrooms, exercises rooms, tables, buttons, handrails, faucets, and doorknobs. Increased frequency of cleaning and disinfecting with attention to these areas helps mitigate the spread of bacteria and viruses, including the novel coronavirus.
Additionally, multiple electrostatic sprayers and hand-held cleaning units (pictured above) have been ordered to efficiently clean larger spaces such as the University of Findlay’s Mazza Museum, Koehler Fitness Center, and classrooms. These devices work by producing a positively charged disinfectant solution that is attracted to the negatively charged surfaces being cleaned which allows the solution to encompass the entire surface without having to physically touch every part of the room.
