Kevin Renshler, Ph.D., has been hired as The University of Findlay’s College of Business dean. He began serving as interim dean in August following the retirement of former Dean Paul Sears, Ph.D.
“Dr. Renshler’s leadership on an interim basis has already greatly benefited the College of Business and this University as a whole,” said President Katherine Fell, Ph.D. “His ambitious goals for enhancing our business programs, combined with upcoming construction of our new Center for Student Life and College of Business building, will enhance the preparation of UF students for leadership roles in the global economy.”
Darin Fields, vice president for academic affairs, is also looking forward to changes under Renshler’s direction. “Dr. Renshler is an excellent choice for long-term leadership of the College of Business,” he said. “Working with our dedicated faculty and staff, he will bring a strong sense of urgency and innovation to our programs, and an approach centered on student success at every level.”
Before coming to UF, Renshler previously was the dean for Barton College’s School of Business in Wilson, North Carolina. While there, he directed revision of the curriculum and all degree programs, and developed and implemented a strategic plan and assessment program for Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business accreditation.
Renshler also directed the University of South Florida’s Honors Program in Business, and was on the graduate faculty at Florida Southern College and the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
He held leadership roles at Barton’s Enterprise Center, the Wilson/Barton Think Tank, the Barton Leadership Initiative and the Ethics Bowl Team. He also taught courses on strategic management and entrepreneurship/innovation. His research focuses on the factors that influence resource allocation decisions and why organizations and industries become similar in form over time.
Renshler earned a Doctor of Philosophy in sports management and a Bachelor of Science in biological sciences from The Ohio State University, and a Master of Science in exercise science from Miami University. He completed the post-doctoral Bridge to Business Program for Academic Qualification from the University of Florida’s Warrington College of Business.
