Seniors to Showcase Their ‘Rocking’ Horses

Horses and riders will be moving to music on Saturday, April 22 at the James L. Child, Jr. Equestrian Complex. The beauty and symmetry of well trained animals and polished equestrians will be featured at the annual Senior Showcase, beginning at 5 p.m.
Seven graduating seniors, all equestrian or equine business management majors, will be the focus of the program, with several undergraduate students performing as well. The seniors include: Elle Brady, Grand Rapids, Michigan; Emily Gill, Louisville, Ohio; Larissa Holmes, Hershey, Pennsylvania; Erin Mott, Livonia, Michigan; Alexa Murray, Crystal Lake, Illinois; Courtney O’Connor, Guilford, Connecticut, and Samantha Karlyle Russell, Muskegon, Michigan.
According to Nicole Thuengen, director, English equestrian studies, the performance will illustrate the English riding disciplines of dressage, hunter/jumper and eventing. The students will ride a quadrille (four riders), a pas de deux (two riders) and freestyle (one rider). Every level contains elements of one of the listed tests and riders must include the most important movements of each level.
The public is invited to view the indoor event at no charge. The James L. Child, Jr. Equestrian Complex is located at 11178 Township Road 201, Findlay.
