Slippery Elm Literary Journal Hosts Deanna Tulley Multimedia Contest
Slippery Elm Literary Journal’s Deanna Tulley Multimedia Contest is open for submissions through Wednesday, Sept. 30. Contest entry is $10, with prizes of $300, $200, and $100. Submissions will be judged by multimedia artist Shin Yu Pai.
The contest, in its third year, comes after the release of the literary journal’s 2020 edition and features interactive or multimedia digital work that can’t be published in print. In past years submissions have included video poems, hypertext, and audio recordings.
Full contest guidelines can be found at slipperyelm.findlay.edu/multimedia-contest-guidelines.
Slippery Elm is a student-run literary journal that publishes literature from all over the world. Editorial positions rotate annually, and interested students should contact Dave Essinger, associate professor of English, at essinger@findlay.edu for more information.
While the 2020 release party was initially delayed due to COVID-19 guidelines, the rescheduled remote release party via Zoom allowed more than twenty contributors to read their works from the issue.
“It was too bad not to be able to have a live event, but by going virtual we were able to include contributors and viewers from all over the world, and turnout online was much stronger than we’ve ever had for a live event,” Essinger said.
The 2020 Slippery Elm Literary Journal is available on campus and for purchase online at slipperyelm.findlay.edu.
