The board approved faculty emeritus status to professors Luke Bartolomeo, Ph.D., professor of chemistry; Don Collins, assistant professor of psychology; Elaine Markon, assistant professor of nuclear medicine; and Richard Smith, Ph.D., professor of philosophy.
The trustees accepted, with appreciation for his service, the resignation of Harold P. “Herk” Wolfe, effective Sept. 30. Wolfe was a member of the board since 2006 and served on the Institutional Advancement Standing Committee, Athletic Advisory Committee, Building and Ground Committee and Compensation Committee, as well as having served on the Committee on Trustees since 2010.
Approved to join the board as a graduate student representative was Catherine Joyce, who is pursuing a master of business administration degree. Joyce graduate from UF in 2009 with a bachelor of arts in liberal studies, with a Japanese minor, and in 2012 with a master of arts in liberal studies.
Michael Gardner also was approved as a new board member. Gardner owns Superior Trim in Findlay. He is a graduate of Ohio University with a bachelor’s degree in industrial and systems engineering. His and his wife, Robin, have two sons, Michael and Philip. Gardner’s initial term will run though 2014.
Other actions included approval of the 2011-12 audit report, approval of the 2012-13 budget and approval of a Fraud Risk Assessment Policy.
Other discussion focused on continuing national searches to fill staff positions, including vice president for enrollment management and chief marketing and communication officer. Those positions remain open as search committees consider candidates.
