Spring Arch Ceremony Revived
Several new University of Findlay students participated in a spring Arch Ceremony on Friday. This was the first time in many years that the ceremony has been held at the beginning of the spring semester; a fall Arch Ceremony is celebrated annually.
“Every new student should be able to experience the Arch Ceremony,” said Orientation Director Bill Johnston.
Arch ceremony participants walk through the arch toward Old Main to signify the start of their academic journey at UF. Faculty, staff and parents line the sidewalk to greet them. The tradition also dictates that students don’t walk back through the arch in the opposite direction until they graduate.
A total of 40 students participated on Friday, 23 of which were international students. More ceremony photos can be viewed on UF’s Flickr album.
