Spring Band Concert to Feature a Fiesta at MCPA

The combined University of Findlay Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will present their annual spring concert on Sunday, April 17 at 3 p.m. in the Marathon Performing Arts Center.
Admission is free but tickets are required. They can be picked up at the door or reserved in advance by calling the performing arts center box office at 419-423-2787.
“Fiesta!” is the theme for the program, which will feature a variety of sounds and musical images from Spain and Latin America. The bands will join forces to conclude the concert with one of the great works for concert band, “La Fiesta Mexicana” by Owen Reed.
The featured soloist will be senior pharmacy major Dylan Atkins from Springfield, Ohio. One of the winners of the 2015-2016 UF Instrumental Music Concerto Competition, Atkins will solo on flute with the “Wind Ensemble on Concertino” by Cecile Charminade.
At intermission, senior band members will be recognized, endowed scholarship winners for 2016-2017 will be introduced and winners of the 2016-2017 Concerto Competition will be announced
