Donors – they do more for the University of Findlay than can be thoroughly expressed, and they often give with no fanfare or expectations of recognition. But everyone who benefits from their generosity will have a chance to express gratitude on Thank a Donor Day to be held Monday, Jan. 30.
Campus-wide celebration events will offer opportunities for recognizing and acknowledging these vital contributors to the UF community. Members of the University Advancement team and Student Development officers will staff tables where students, faculty and staff can write thank you cards to donors. Locations and times include the Davis Street Building lobby from 9-11 a.m., Alumni Memorial Union from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Henderson Dining Hall from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Diagnostic Services Building from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Beckett Animal Science Center from 1-3 p.m.
Also, recipients can create a short video to tell donors how much their support mans to them. Videographers will be available at the Davis Street Building lobby from 9-11 a.m. to assist.
“Our generous donors are part of what make the University of Findlay an exceptional academic institution that gives lasting meaning and value to the lives of so many,” said Marcia Latta, Ed.D., vice president for University Advancement. “We’re always excited to host Thank a Donor Day because it sets aside special time for the campus community to show how much we appreciate donors’ support.”
Donations fund University necessities such as undergraduate and graduate research, scholarships for students with financial need and technology upgrades.
Additionally, the University community doesn’t simply thank outside donors, but contributes in its own right.
- 5 percent of faculty and staff made gifts to support UF.
- A total of 163 students gave $3,892 to support the Findlay Fund Class of 2016 Scholarship.
- Parents, alumni and friends of the University gave more than $1 million to support student scholarships in the 2015-16 fiscal year.
