The University of Findlay Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will feature the theme, “Home for the Holidays” for its annual Christmas concert to be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 7 at Van Buren High School.
Admission is free but tickets are required by calling the UF Box Office at 419-434-5335 or emailingboxoffice@findlay.edu.
Under the direction of University music professor Jack Taylor, the bands will present a variety of holiday favorites and melodies that are associated with the Christmas season in America. They will also premiere two new arrangements by Taylor.
The concert will showcase senior clarinetist Hailee Hedges. The forensic science major from Hilliard, Ohio will perform “Victors Tale” for clarinet and band, a piece that was written by John Williams for the motion picture, “The Terminal” starring Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta Jones.
Hedges was one of the winners of the 2014-2015 instrumental music concerto competition at the University.
Marie Louden-Hanes, special assistant to University President Katherine Fell, will serve as the program’s narrator.
