UF College of Business to Host Inaugural Stock Simulation Competition
Students in the College of Business will experience trading in the stock market and compete for cash prizes this semester in the inaugural Stock Simulation Competition, sponsored by the dean’s office. More than 100 students will participate by trading stock in a real-time stock simulation through Stock Trak, a leading virtual trading application.
Throughout this 14-week competition, students will learn about stock market trends and where the stock market is headed while competing to create the top-performing stock market portfolio. Each student will start with $1 million in pretend money to trade stocks and gain hands-on experience in a safe virtual environment.
The market value of the stock market portfolios will determine the top performers at the end of 14 weeks. Prizes for the competition will be awarded as follows:
- The top 15 performers will receive $100 each
- The second top 25 performers will receive $50 each
- The third top performers will receive $25 each
- The remaining students will receive a $5 gift card to the UF bookstore
Students must be an undergraduate in the College of Business and have a GPA of 2.75 or above to participate. Registration forms will be accepted until 5 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17. For a registration form and more information, contact Yaseen S. Alhaj-Yaseen, Ph.D., at alhaj-yaseen@findlay.edu.
