UF Dance Marathon Leader Wins International Award
Alysa Martin, a 2019 University of Findlay Doctor of Pharmacy graduate, has literally danced her way to a Miracle Network Dance Marathon Distinguished Leadership Award. Martin is one of only 20 individuals selected at colleges and universities across the United States and Canada to receive this prestigious honor.
“I was a participant in 2014. I immediately fell in love and knew I needed to join the leadership team,” Martin explained in a profile featured on Miracle Network Dance Marathon’s website.
The University of Findlay Circle K UF Miracle organization raises funds for Mercy Health Children’s Hospital in Toledo each year with numerous events leading up to a day-long community dance. Last year’s efforts raised more than $47,000.
As an executive committee member, Martin has been instrumental in increasing promotion and strengthening awareness with the hospital. She also received the OilerTHON Top Fundraiser Award in 2018 and 2017.
The Hamburg, New York native will begin post-graduate training this fall as a pharmacy resident at the University of Rochester Medical Center. She intends to specialize in pediatric pharmacy, and hopes to one day become a pharmacy professor.
