The University of Findlay is celebrating a special milestone of philanthropy, as the Together We Will comprehensive campaign concluded July 31 by making history.
The campaign began seven years ago with an ambitious goal to raise $75 million, but the extraordinary support of Oilers around the world elevated the final total to $94,826,392.
“We could not be more grateful to our loyal Oiler alumni and friends whose generosity has set a new campus record in philanthropy, coming together to push us 26 percent beyond our goal,” said Kenneth McIntyre Jr., vice president of University advancement. “Donor support has touched every corner of campus and makes a difference for every Oiler student.”
UF Board of Trustees member Chuck Bills, of Findlay, a strong supporter of Together We Will, noted, “a great university changes lives one student at a time, but its impact reaches much further.”
“Through education, leadership development, research, service, and workforce preparation, the University of Findlay helps to shape the future of our region and our nation,” he continued. “The remarkable generosity demonstrated through this campaign ensures that mission will continue for generations to come.”
Gifts were made by 11,466 donors, coming from all 50 states and 18 countries, McIntyre noted, adding that 37% of donors are UF alumni, 61% of donors live in Ohio, and 20% live in Hancock County.
During the seven-year campaign, 76,551 individual gifts were made, which averages out to 30 gifts each day.
“You make us so proud to be part of the Oiler family, donors who truly have shown your concern and care for UF students,” McIntyre said.
He pointed out that a majority of the gifts made – 59,141 – were less than $100, adding that “every gift – no matter the amount – always make a difference. Together we are changing the future at the University of Findlay.”
In addition to operating support of $30,333,067, donors also funded $21,956,344 in scholarships.
Among other campus priorities of Together We Will, the gift totals are:
- Lab renovations and training spaces: $2,888,368
- Findlay Fund endowment: $1,146,811
- Athletic facilities: $1,770,626
- Campus ministries: $1,121,988
- Mazza Museum program endowments: $701,157
- Mazza STEAM addition: $1,342,327
“Everyone who has been a part of this campaign has made an investment in the future,” McIntyre said. “This support has positioned the University for strength and progress as we continue to work together to face the challenges ahead and seek innovative opportunities to launch UF into an even greater future.”
