UF Helps to End Hunger with 15th Annual Helping Hands Food Drive
This year marks the 15th Annual Helping Hands Food Drive at the University of Findlay!
Organized by Sodexo, the event will be held over a 24-hour period on Thursday, Nov. 12. Nonperishable food, such as cereal, canned fruit, dry pasta, peanut butter, and jelly, which haven’t passed their expiration dates, and monetary donations will be collected to benefit those who need it most.
This year, food collection will take place at CHOPIN Hall, a Findlay nonprofit that serves people within the region, as a “drive-up and drop-off” between the hours of 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. Monetary donations can be made at any register on campus or through the Helping Hands donation link.
In 2019, CHOPIN Hall provided 295,000 meals! Last year’s Helping Hands drive provided an approximate 4-month food supply for the Hall by surpassing the goal of 115,000 pounds of food with a total of 115,867 pounds.
Since the introduction of the food drive initiative to college campuses across the United States in 2006, UF has led the nation nearly every year with the most pounds collected and has donated 717,669 pounds of food to date. The campus community supports the event in a big way by volunteering at collection sites, counting and sorting donations, and competing for the most donations.
