UF Homecoming 2015 to Host Friends, Family and Fun
“Believe and Achieve” are words echoed around campus time and time again. Therefore it’s only fitting that it is this year’s Homecoming and Family Weekend theme. Don’t miss out on all the fun that will be taking place Oct. 16-17!
Friday Oct. 16 will officially kick off Homecoming weekend. Oiler Bash will take place at the Koehler Fitness & Recreation Complex from 7-9 p.m. UF students, alumni, families and friends are invited to a fun night of games, inflatables and carnival activities. After Oiler Bash make sure you stick around for the alumni fireworks taking place across the street in the Davis Street parking lot.
Also on Friday, the classes of 1965 and 1975 will be having their 50th and 40th reunions respectively, the College of Pharmacy will be hosting their White Coat Ceremony and 10th anniversary gathering, and graduates of the last decade and the Sigma Kappa Sorority are invited to attend Oiler Octoberfest.
The community is invited to join UF alumni, students, faculty, staff and community members for a 5K run/walk Saturday morning to benefit Generation Orange, graduates of the last decade. Registration begins at 6:45 a.m. at Croy Physical Education Center. Along with entries postmarked by Sept. 25 participants will receive a free T-shirt from the event. The 5K start time is 8 a.m.!
On Saturday afternoon, come cheer on the football team at Donnell Stadium! The Oilers will be taking on Northwood University at 2 p.m. Dress in orange and black to show your school spirit! The 2015 homecoming king and queen will be announced along with the 2015 Distinguished Alumni and other award recipients. General admission is $5. Those 65 and older and children 5 and under are invited to watch the event for free.
The Give Voice to your Values Campaign Gala Celebration will be held at the Koehler Fitness and Recreation Complex from 7-11 p.m. Saturday. The cocktail reception will be followed by dinner and an evening of live entertainment by the Indoorfins Band. The event requires registration and costs $40 per person. A cash bar will be available.
Other events around campus on Saturday include: Alumni Association annual breakfast, Oiler family breakfast, dedication of the University archives supported by the Class of 1965, Sigma Kappa open house, college open houses, College of Pharmacy Class of 2010 reunion, annual marching band and Oiler Brass reunion and mixer, 25th reunion of the Class of 1990, and Pharmal.
The Koehler Student Recreation Center will also be open to all guests 16 and older for Homecoming and Family Weekend from 10 a.m. – 10 p.m.
Sunday wraps up Homecoming and Family Weekend with the Environmental Safety and Occupational Health Alumni Golf Scramble and a worship service at College First Church of God.
