Value Colleges noted that UF, “in addition to highly-regarded programs such as equestrian studies, nuclear medicine, and occupational and physical therapy, has also been a pioneer in emergency and disaster studies, including creating the first bachelor’s program in hazardous waste training.”
“That leading role in crisis management education makes Findlay an obvious choice for students interested in an online emergency management program,” the site continued. Its program, which prepare students for safety roles in business and industry, “are taught by the same groundbreaking experts who helped develop and grow their emergency studies on-campus curriculum, so students can be sure they are at the forefront of the field and have a leg up on the job market.
UF’s ranking within the top 10 places it among other reputable institutions such as Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and Tulane University.
“Findlay’s online emergency management program is taught by experts in the field. Faculty experience in planning for and responding to emergencies of all types range from 20 to 35 years, including faculty currently working full time in emergency preparedness and response,” said Timothy Murphy, Ph.D., associate professor of environmental safety and occupational health management, and department chair.
Value Colleges explained that developing quality higher education programs in this field began in earnest when the U.S. Department of Homeland Security was founded after the Sept. 11 attacks.
“With a budget of over $100 billion, and responsibility for environmental disasters, terrorist attacks, and other large-scale events, Homeland Security is one of the fastest-growing job markets,” Value Colleges maintained.
