UF Professor Dr. Mario Baker Recognized for Physical Therapy Leadership
University of Findlay’s Mario Baker, DPT, assistant professor, Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, was recently elected to the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT) nominating committee and reappointed to the Ohio Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Athletic Trainer (OTPTAT) Board. He was sworn in at the national conference held in Washington State.
“I am honored to be elected to serve on the FSBPT nominating committee,” said Baker. “Having a part in the selection of qualified and capable member of state regulatory boards from across the country to serve in leadership positions at FSBPT is exciting and humbling.”
He continued, “I am grateful to be reappointed to a third term on the OTPTAT boards physical therapy section and joint board to serve the state on Ohio’s consumers of physical therapy serves by promoting public protection through the regulation of the practice of physical therapy.”
Additionally, Baker has once again received the Outstanding Service Award for FSBPT, marking two consecutive years.
“Mario Baker has a servant attitude towards the organizations he puts his efforts into. The core values of the American Physical Therapy Association include values such as altruism, collaboration, duty, excellence, integrity, and social responsibility,” said Angie Huber, DPT, associate professor of physical therapy, program director, and chair of the Physical Therapy Department. “Mario lives these values in the service he provides to his community, professional community, and to this University.”
“He is truly deserving of the Outstanding Service Award from the Federal State Board of Physical Therapy, round two,” Huber added. “I have no doubt his leadership decisions at the national level will be grounded in his strong values. He is an exemplary physical therapist and faculty member, and we are honored to have him teaching the next generation of physical therapists at the University of Findlay.”
