UF Telehealth Center has New Website, Offering Fellowship Opportunity
The University of Findlay’s Telehealth Center, which pairs College of Pharmacy students with patients for optimal learning and health outcomes, has a new website and fellowship program.
Located at telehealthcenter.findlay.edu, the site explains the program’s benefits and services that fill the gaps for patients who need extra care and assistance in medication therapy management and chronic care management. Made possible through UF’s full-time staff and local pharmacists, the Telehealth Center, which opened in 2016, particularly helps those with travel limitations, and who live in rural areas. Supervised pharmacy students use video conferencing, telephone and online interactions to help patients.
Also, the University of Findlay College of Pharmacy, in partnership with Mercy Health, is now seeking to fill the newly-created Population Health Fellowship within the Telehealth Center. This opportunity will allow pharmacists to build and expand clinical knowledge, project development and initiation, professional networking, and business management skills while assisting target populations to achieve identified health outcomes.
“This fellowship has a unique population health focus with vast research initiatives and project opportunities in partnership with a variety of patient care systems,” explained Telehealth Center Assist Director Kathleen (Brown) Alt, Pharm.D. ’16.
The fellowship is a 1-year, full-time position focusing on population health, with a second-year option to qualified candidates who meet the requirements of the sponsoring entities, Mercy Health, and UF’s College of Pharmacy. The fellow will operate primarily in the center, with occasional travel to Mercy Health sites within Ohio and Kentucky. The majority of time will be spent working directly with Mercy Health population health specialists on projects that are focused on needs specific to the institution.
The fellow will also be required to conduct research, teach and complete presentations.
Candidates should have earned a Doctor of Pharmacy degree and hold an active pharmacy license in Ohio.
