UF to Celebrate International Mother Language Day ‘22
University of Findlay’s International Mother Language Day celebration is slated to take place on Monday, Feb. 21 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the atrium of the Center for Student Life and College of Business Building.
Live music will be offered, and several UF students will tell stories in their mother languages, including Japanese, Serbian, Bengali, Hindi, and more. The event is free and open to the public.
This celebration of linguistic and cultural diversity at UF is being presented by the Department of Language and Culture and Cultural Connections of Hancock County.
International Mother Language Day was established in 1999 by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization) to recognize and honor the world’s linguistic and cultural diversity, and to emphasize that multilingualism is essential for sustainable development.
