UF to Honor Veterans in Virtual Presentation
University of Findlay will hold a virtual Veterans Day observance Thursday, Nov. 11 at 4 p.m. The campus community and friends of the University are invited to honor the bravery, commitment, and sacrifices made by veterans.
The Veterans Day 2021 observance will be held at the University of Findlay’s Veterans Wall and can be watched virtually via livestream on UFTV’s YouTube channel. Registration is preferred.
Special guest keynote speaker Michael Bankey ‘84, Ph.D., United States Army veteran, will give remarks and share his experiences.
After graduation, Bankey served as a substitute teacher for Findlay City Schools prior to joining the U.S. Army. Upon enlistment, he was stationed in Central America where he served as a Sergeant in the 534th Military Police Company in the Panama Canal Zone. After completing his enlistment, he spent the next 30+ years working as a college administrator at a variety of colleges throughout Ohio before retiring.
In early 2020, he came out of retirement to fulfill a dream of once again being able to work with the U.S. Army. He is currently working for the U.S. Army as a civilian where he is the primary advisor to a recruiting battalion on educational matters impacting the Army’s recruiting mission.
A reading of the names from the University’s Veterans Wall will occur immediately following the program.
