A University of Findlay contingent will be well represented at the upcoming STEM in the Park, Bowling Green State University’s (BGSU) annual free community program aimed at getting people of all ages interested and involved in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
The event, sponsored by Northwest Ohio Center for Excellence in STEM Education, will be held Saturday, Sept. 29 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Perry Field House on BGSU’s campus.
Findlay will have a total of six tables. Chemistry students will be offering lessons on light; All Hazards Training Center personal will be offering fire extinguishing demonstrations and floor banners. Also present will be students, faculty and staff from Environmental Safety and Occupational Health, biology, physics, computer science, math, and the Findlay Green Campus Initiative.
In 2017 more than 170 activity stations were provided. A popular addition, “The Robotics Zone,” will be making a return along with the STEM Stage where Imagination Station and Toledo Zoo will host eye-popping demonstrations and offer other hands-on activities. New features this year will include a partnership with the Wood County Regional Airport’s Air Fair for the theme, “Take FLIGHT with STEM,” with the Flight Zone offering activities at the airport. Other captivating activities, involving subjects such as the science of sports and robotics, food science, and digital media technology will be offered.
