UF’s 10th Annual Toys for Tots Drive to be Held

Have you thanked a U.S. Marine lately or given a gift to a needy child? If not, you’ll have your chance to do both at The University of Findlay’s 10^th annual Toys for Tots Christmas party for the campus and community on Wednesday, Dec. 3 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Alumni Memorial Union on Frazer Street.
Guests will have the opportunity to meet, greet and thank Marines for their service, meet Santa’s helper, Mishka and enjoy music and snacks while contributing toys and cash to buy toys for needy children in Hancock County.
Due to the generosity of participants last year, UF collected 141 toys and $176.81 in cash donations. This year’s goal is to collect 200 toys so that the organization itself can meet its goal of providing four toys per child.
The U.S. Marine Corps works with the Salvation Army and Family Resource Center, both located in Hancock County, to make sure everyone is fairly served.
Cash donations will go toward the purchase of toys in an age category that may have a need that has not been met by toy donations. The Marines will then shop for toys to help make children’s dreams come true this holiday season.
Those who are not able to attend the Christmas party but want to drop off toys at another time may do so at the Alumni Memorial Union’s drop box located next to office A-8 in the union. Drop-off times will be Monday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 17 through Friday, Nov. 21; from Monday, Nov. 24 through Wednesday, Nov. 26.; and from Monday, Dec. 1.
All toy donations must be new, unwrapped and appropriate for children ranging from infants to 15 years old.
Those who wish to donate cash at another time may do so in the Office of Student Activities, Commuter Services, Leadership Development and Campus Program Board office in Office 8-A of the union from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1-5 p.m. from Monday, Nov. 17 through Friday, Nov. 21; from Monday, Nov. 24 through Wednesday, Nov. 26; and on Monday, Dec. 1.
All donations are tax deductible. Checks should be made out to Toys for Tots – Hancock County.
The University of Findlay’s toy drive will conclude with the party on Wednesday, Dec. 3.
