University of Findlay Exceeds $125,000 After #GivingTuesday
University of Findlay celebrated #GivingTuesday on Tuesday, Nov. 29th with the help of more than 500 donors. At the time of this article’s publishing, 548 donors had donated $130,669 to the University of Findlay.
Globally recognized as a day of giving, #GivingTuesday allows people to support their favorite charities, business, and alma maters. This year, the University of Findlay tied #GivingTuesday to the first ever Battle of Champions, where UF is competing against Ashland University to see who can reach 600 donors first. While #GivingTuesday has come to an end, Battle of Champions is still underway, allowing people to continue to support the UF student experience through donations to University Athletics, Oilers Club (official booster club of UF athletics), and The Findlay Fund (University’s general fund).
Findlay and Ashland will battle it out on the basketball courts on December 1st, as both the men’s and women’s teams will compete at the University of Findlay’s Croy Physical Education Center. University officials will make an announcement during the game regarding Battle of Champions, and the friendly donor competition will continue through Saturday, December 3rd.
As part of the friendly competition, UF President Katherine Fell, Ph.D., and Ashland President Carlos Campo, Ph.D. have made a separate wager. If the Oilers win the Battle of Champions, President Campo has agreed to bake his homemade chocolate chip cookies for President Fell. If the Ashland Eagles win, President Fell has agreed to host President Campo for a gumbo dinner. Final donor numbers will be released next week, and a Champion will be named.
