University of Findlay Hosts the 2023 Education Expo

University of Findlay hosted the 2023 Education Expo in the Koehler Fitness & Recreation Complex with students and educators from all over the region gathering to explore career opportunities in the field of education. Education Expo is a job fair sponsored by five private Career Centers: University of Findlay, Bluffton University, Defiance College, Heidelberg University, and Ohio Northern University.
The event was hosted by the Center for Career and Professional Development at University of Findlay, and boasted an impressive turnout of over 50 school districts, each eager to connect with prospective teachers and discuss their current hiring needs. According to Katrina Shull, Client Services Specialist at the Center for Career and Professional Development, “We have over 50 districts represented to have face-to-face conversations with students about career opportunities.” The event provided students with a unique opportunity to network with potential employers, learn about different career paths within the field of education, and gain valuable insights into the hiring process and requirements of various school districts.
One of the key goals of the Education Expo was to help address the ongoing teacher shortage that many school districts are currently facing. As Julie McIntosh, Ed.D., Dean of the College of Education noted, “We have been a part of the Education Expo for 20+ years, this is a great opportunity for not only the students but for the school districts to address the teacher shortage.” By bringing together school districts and prospective teachers, the Education Expo aimed to bridge the gap between supply and demand in the education job market and help schools find qualified candidates to fill their open positions.
Overall, the 2023 Education Expo was a valuable resource for both students and school districts, offering a platform for networking, learning, and collaboration. As the education landscape continues to evolve, events like these will be crucial in helping to ensure that schools have the teachers they need to provide a high-quality education for all students.
