University of Findlay Now Offers Organizational Communication Bachelor Degree
University of Findlay’s Department of Communication has added the Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Communication to its undergraduate degree offerings.
The new major is designed for students who seek to acquire verbal, written, and digital communication talents necessary to make any organization thrive in the 21st century. Students wanting to advance in business corporations, bring about meaningful change in non-profits, or serve their local communities would be an ideal fit for this new degree.
“The Organizational Communication BA provides students with the skills and experiential learning necessary to direct any organization through its day-to-day and long-term communication needs in policy, leadership, training, and organizational culture,” said Kit Medjesky, Ph.D., assistant professor of communication. “We train our students to be ethically driven, culturally focused, and creativity minded. With this mission, our students can address all communication needs in ways that benefit the organization, its members, and the communities it serves.”
The program is also an ideal second major for many Findlay students. The coursework incorporates many classes that meet the University of Findlay CORE+ requirements and many of the courses are offered online, making this an ideal program for students who want to complement their other major’s skills or who otherwise have difficulty considering a second major because their other major occurs in one of UF’s off-site locations, farms, or barns.
The University’s Department of Communication currently houses two other majors, Journalism/Digital Media and Public Relations, making Organizational Communication the third undergraduate program in the department. The Master of Arts in Professional Communication is also housed within the Department of Communication, which provides a graduate level training in skills for working professionals as well as a students of business, marketing, leadership, and strategic communication.
