The University of Findlay Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble will join forces on Sunday, April 19 at Findlay High School’s Heminger Auditorium for a 3 p.m. concert.
“American Pastimes” is the theme for the program, featuring a variety of works having to do with American hobbies. The concert will be highlighted by a work entitled “Video Games Live” by Ralph Ford. The two concert bands will join forces to present this work, which features a number of symphonic themes from contemporary video games.
Katie Mehlow, a senior pre-vet major from Oak Harbor, Ohio will be featured as saxophone soloist. One of the winners of the 2014-15 UF instrumental music concerto competition, Mehlow will perform music from “Tribute to Rudy Wiedoft” for saxophone and band.
Directing will be Jack Taylor, professor of music and director of bands at the university; and Phil Miller, director of bands at Carey Exempted Villages Schools.
Admission to the concert is free but tickets are required.
