Wood Fired Pottery to be Exhibited in Lea Gallery
Striking pottery crafted at the Manabigama Pottery Center in Swanton, Ohio will be exhibited at the University of Findlay campus. “Wood Fired Pots from The Manabigama Pottery Center by John Thies” will be on display from Aug. 21 through Sept. 15 in the Virginia B. Gardner Fine Arts Pavilion’s Dudley and Mary Marks Lea Gallery.
A reception will be held in the gallery on Wednesday, Sept. 6 from 7-8:30 p.m.
The center was founded in 2010 by Thies and Tiffany Hyland. With more than 40 years of experience, Thies is a master potter, kiln designer and builder. Hyland began working with clay more than a decade ago as a recreational potter. She now enjoys producing her own works, collaborating with Thies , and operating the studio, which also offers classes for students of all skill levels.
Many of the pieces being exhibited will be for sale.
The University’s Lea Gallery is open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. All exhibitions are fee and open to the public.
