Yung Gravy Coming to University of Findlay for Oiler Music Festival
The University of Findlay’s Student Government Association (SGA) will host Oiler Music Festival on March 25th at the UF Koehler Recreation Center. The event is open to the public, and tickets can be purchased through the Marathon Center for Performing Arts (MCPA).
This year’s guest artist is American Rapper, Yung Gravy. Yung Gravy gained recognition in 2017 when his song “Mr. Clean” went Platinum. Since then, he has completed seven international tours, released one mixtape, three albums, and seven Eps. Last year he released his first Billboard Hot 100-charting hit “Betty (Get Money).” His music style can be described as a blend of modern trap music with themes inspired by soul and oldies movements of the 1950s and 1960s. His music is also described as humorous, satirical, and groovy.
SGA President Ashlyn Coleman was in charge of finding an artist for the Oiler Music Festival, and she didn’t take the project lightly. “I did my research, used my resources, and I found clips of his performances at other colleges and universities. He performs with so much fun energy, and creates a memory-making atmosphere,” said Coleman. Like other students at UF, Coleman left home and came to Findlay for an excellent education. That being said, she also realizes the importance of a positive college experience. “As students, education is obviously the reason we all moved away from home, but building enjoyable memories is just as important, as college doesn’t last forever. As president of SGA, I wanted to make an impact on students, and I look forward to a fun memory we can all share as students.” Coleman said. “I want to be the parent that tells their kids about a huge concert with great artists that came to UF while I went to school there.”
Tickets are $10 for UF students, faculty, and staff. General public tickets can be purchased for $40. For those people waiting to purchase their tickets the day of the event, UF students, faculty, and staff can expect to pay $25. Day of tickets for the general public will be sold for $55.
Doors at the Kohler Center will open at 6:00 p.m., and the opening act will take the stage at 7:00 p.m. Headliner, Yung Gravy, will take the stage at 9:00 p.m.
