To celebrate its 50th reunion, the University of Findlay Class of 1966 is seeking names of veterans who attended the University to be included on the Veterans’ Honor Wall in the Center for Student Life and College of Business, which is being constructed and is expected to open for the fall 2017 semester.
An online form that asks for information such as which branch of the military the former student served in, when they served and when they attended UF/Findlay College can be completed at www.findlay.edu/HonoringOurVeterans.
Donations to pay for the Veterans’ Honor Wall are also being accepted at give.findlay.edu.
“Many of our parents and relatives served in World War II or the Korean War, and we ourselves graduated during the Vietnam era,” explained A.R. Charnes ’66, chairman of the University of Findlay Board of Trustees. “All of us have an awareness of what men and women sacrifice when they serve in our armed forces. As a committee we feel honoring the veterans that have attended Findlay College or University of Findlay would allow us to show our admiration, respect and appreciation for their service.”
“For those of us who served and especially for the families of those who are missing in action or died in action, we sincerely appreciate the recognition this project will offer, said George Bayer ’66, a Vietnam veteran.
For more information on the wall and how to make a donation, contact Jaclyn Schalk, director of gift planning, at 419-434-4794 or schalk@findlay.edu.
