College of Education Receives IAIE Fidelity Award
University of Findlay’s College of Education has been awarded the “2023 Inviting School Silver Fidelity Award” from the International Alliance for Invitational Education (IAIE). The non-profit worldwide organization of educators and allied professionals recognizes efforts in creating inviting schools where people want to teach and learn.
IAIE has found that “Inviting Schools” have increased academic achievement, graduation and attendance rates, collaboration, engagement, and cooperation, while decreasing behavior problems, conflicts, suspensions, failures, and teacher burnout.
Findlay was recognized for its Invitational Education (IE) achievements, meeting standards in all five areas (people, places, policies, programs, and processes), while also intentionally seeking to create, sustain, and enhance total learning environments based on trust, respect, optimism, and care.
The College of Education’s faculty and staff gave consideration to IE standards, with a focus on making sure the college was intentionally inviting. Students within the college were surveyed and goals were developed to address any areas that may have been unintentionally disinviting. Their efforts paid off, and the College of Education was awarded the Fidelity Award.
“The Fidelity Award acknowledges the good work that the COE faculty and staff are doing to support our students to be caring, inclusive, innovative, and highly qualified professionals,” said Julie McIntosh, Ed.D. dean of the College of Education.
