Kirby Overton, Ed.D., Named University of Findlay College of Business Dean
The University of Findlay is pleased to announce that Kirby C. Overton, B.S. ‘06, MBA ’08, Ed.D. ‘18, has been appointed to serve as dean of the College of Business. Overton’s appointment is effective Jan. 1, 2021.
Overton has served as the college’s assistant dean since March, 2019, department chair of the College of Business Programs since March, 2018, and an Assistant Professor of Business since 2015. Prior to that, she served as an Adjunct Business Administration Instructor, Coordinator of Game Day Operations, and Assistant Coordinator of Student Recreation at Central State University, Adjunct Business Instructor at Miami-Jacobs Career College, and Business and Marketing Instructor and a Student Success Mentor at Owens Community College.
Along with her academic and administrative positions, Overton has also taken a very active role in athletics with various coaching positions in track and field.
“I am delighted that Dr. Overton has accepted our offer to lead the College of Business,” said Darin Fields, vice president for Academic Affairs. “She will bring fresh and innovative leadership to the college, and she will provide a vision of excellence and growth for the future. She is a passionate Oiler who is committed to the University of Findlay, and she will make a fine dean.”

Overton truly believes in the education students receive from Findlay’s College of Business. “We have the potential and the tools to be one of the top ranked business schools in Ohio so I look forward to working with everyone so that we can accomplish that goal,” she stated.
A true Findlay alumna through and through, Overton earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Management and Marketing in 2006, Master of Business Administration (MBA) in Organizational Leadership in 2008, and Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) in Educational Leadership in 2018 from University of Findlay.
Additionally, Overton has proven to be very active in University affairs and holds numerous chair and advisor positions including, most recently, co-chair of the Assistant Professor of Business Search Committee, member of the Athletics Hall of Fame Selection Committee, Academic Advisor for undergraduate and graduate students, Faculty Advisor of Future Leaders Initiative, and member of the Undergraduate Academic Standards Committee.
University of Findlay’s College of Business encompasses the undergraduate program which includes 11 areas of emphasis and 14 minors, and the Master of Business Administration Program which includes four unique degree paths.
