Scholarship Recipients Participate in Meet & Greet

Fifty University of Findlay students who received the Choose Ohio First (COF) STEMM Scholarship participated in a meet-and-greet event on Wednesday, Nov. 10.
“The Choose Ohio First Meet and Greet is an annual event which gives the students the chance to meet as an entire group as COF Scholars,” explained Jeffrey Frye, Ph.D., dean of the College of Sciences. “The event serves as an ice breaker and allows the students to also meet the staff and upper-administration at the University who work behind-the-scenes to organize the COF program, helping students see that they are part of a larger community with a wide support network designed to help them succeed.”
UF’s Choose Ohio First Scholars are enrolled in high-demand STEMM fields, including computer science, pharmacy, health professions, environmental safety, adolescent/young adult (AYA) math or science, and biology programs. This event marks the seventh annual Choose Ohio First Meet and Greet, where COF Scholars from a variety of disciplines and stages of their academic career can network with each other.
Scholars were also able to speak with Dr. Katherine Fell, president, and Dr. Darin Fields, vice president of Academic Affairs, in addition to the Deans of all four colleges involved in the COF program.
The University has been honored to be involved in the Choose Ohio First program since 2008. Recipients must be Ohio residents or graduates of Ohio high schools, enrolled in an eligible program, and meet additional academic requirements defined by the University.
