U.S. Department of Defense Recognizes UF for Supporting Military Members and their Families
The University of Findlay was recently recognized for providing outstanding support to local military members and their families.
The Ohio Chairmen’s Seven Seals Award was presented by the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), a U.S. Department of Defense office, in recognition of significant individual or organizational achievement, initiative or support that promotes and supports the ESGR’s mission. Marcia Latta, Ed.D., vice president for University Advancement, accepted the award at a July 1 lunch in Findlay.
ESGR Northwest Ohio Regional Chairman Terry Witter and Committee member Don Elswick nominated UF. It was noted that the University:
- Provides a full-time financial aid counselor, who helps to ensure that each veteran, guardsman and reservist attending UF receives maximum benefit;
- Was designated a “Top School” in Military Advanced Education’s 2015 MAE Guide to Colleges and Universities;
- Performs an official evaluation of the Joint Services Transcripts for veterans and service members at no cost to the veteran, guardsman and reservist;
- Has a military services task force, formed in 2015, that regularly works to ensure that military personnel who wish to attend or are attending the University are receiving optimal educational service and financial aid counseling.
