UF Concert-Chorale Brings Sounds of Spring
University of Findlay’s 2021 George & Shirlee Whitson Spring Choral Concert, “Jazzy Spring,” will feature UF’s Concert Chorale and University Singers, on Sunday, April 11 at 3 p.m. via livestream.
The concert will be free and livestreamed via UFTV’s YouTube Channel.
The Concert-Chorale will be singing two choral jazz pieces which are George Shearing’s interpretation on Shakespeare’s classic stories, and Bob Chilcott’s “A Little Jazz Mass” based on the text of Ordinary Mass. Guest jazz musicians will be performing in these pieces with the Concert-Chorale.
University Singers will perform choral pieces by George Gershwin and Real Group, a renowned vocal jazz group.
Conducting will be SeaHwa Jung, director of choral activities and assistant professor of music at the University of Findlay. Su Jung will serve as the accompanist.
“It has been a difficult time for the performing groups, but UF choirs worked very hard with distancing and masks,” SeaHwa said. “Students and community singers still enjoyed beautiful choral music and are hopeful to get more singers as usual next year.
